How to Maintain your Water Heater
To ensure your water heater is working properly and potentially extend its life, let Atlanta Star Plumbing maintain it. As a Diamond Club member, we’ll come flush your water heater once per year. This helps “descale” it or rid your water heater of buildup on the inside. We will also check your TMP valve, which controls the temperature, pressure, and relief and keeps your home safe. We will also inspect your water heater for soot buildup on the burner or heat exchanger. When that happens, we can remove it safely. We’ll check the quality of your thermostat and thermocoupler. We’ll look for rust and any other signs of problems. Proactive water heater maintenance can save you headache and money in the future. It is often overlooked by homeowners, but it’s a great way to protect your home—and your wallet.

Water Heater FAQs
Water heaters usually last about 10 years. With proper maintenance, you can extend the life of your water heater.
The best way to service a water heater is to conduct proactive maintenance. We recommend having your water heater professionally flushed and inspected once per year. Technicians flush with a chemical to remove buildup. They examine the inside and outside of the water heater to identify any signs of damage. Doing this before you notice an issue can save homeowners time and money.
Regular maintenance can extend the life of a water heater. This includes annual professional flushing and inspection. Additionally, we can install an anode rode to extend the life of your standard warranty. The anode rode provides you with an extended warranty.
Tankless water heaters can sit outside your home. That means if there is an issue, your home interior is not in danger of being damaged. They also typically give you a discount on your homeowners insurance! And last but certainly not least, they provide endless hot water. That means hot showers, even when the washing machine and dishwasher are running.
